The Elf Club House is visually impressive when the kit is installed; however, the build is extremely fiddly and fragile. The model from LEGO out of the box is already pretty gimmicky; once you run all of the string lights it becomes somewhat more unstable and delicate.
I've built a number of LMB kits and this one is by far the most frustrating I have finished. The string lights are extremely tedious. It's also very challenging to hide the wires. I gave up on trying to follow the instructions and simply stuck the 12 port main board to the side of the chimney. A couple of small zip ties to bundle up the wires and a 2x4 plate to affix them to the 1st floor ceiling.
Anyway, once it's done, it looks very festive from the front, and therefore I will only deduct one star for the difficult installation and messy wires inside. It's a bit overambitious, but LMB did the best they probably could have with the string lights, in lieu of designing a more specialized part. A bespoke string light piece with a single lead would have made the build a lot cleaner, but who knows if that is even technically possible for them to produce.
Nevertheless, I don't recommend you try this one until you've got a fair bit of LMB experience already. Santa's Visit (also pictured) is a much easier Winter Village choice to learn your LMB on.
A few tips:
1. Purchase an extra pack of flashing micro white bit lights 15cm. LMB gives you 2 spares, but you WILL break some of these while pushing the…
